  pearl of wisdom.

i was in eighth standard then. my youngest maasi was getting married , n she was visiting us for a while for some jewellery shopping. ma n maasi were sitting in the garden one evening and i had gone to give them tea. they were discussing something earnestly. so they didn’t notice me . i heard the whole conversation but this post is not about their tête-à-tête.
its about these lines that made a lifelong impact on me– “ never get married to a man whom you love , always the man who loves you. coz i think the woman learns to love over the time , it is a little difficult for the man . he either loves or doesn’t , there are seldom any maybes or sometimes “.
i have remembered these lines all my life. over the years many people have told me this (albeit with some different explanation /reason ) and i in return have passed these “pearls of wisdom” dutifully to lovesick friends. even had those late-night-to-dawn hostel room discussions on whys n hows behind this sentence. but i have always been satisfied by my mother’s reasoning.
may be this the mantra to marital happiness for women. not very honest one, but a successful one for sure.

** and pls people, don’t jump to conclusions , it is not about my marriage.in any case both of us thought we were smarter and were marrying the person who loves us. both of us think that we were duped. we have many contradictory theory on who proposed. the confusion has continued for last many years, n i don’t think it is getting solved anytime sooner.
and we hopefully will live happily forever in this confusion. touchwood.

  sholay n biryani !

saw sholay yesterday night . first time with nish . both of us had seen it earlier ( who hasn’t ) but never together.
and i surprised him by spewing out almost all the dialogues . not only the famous ones like ‘kitne aadmi the’ , ‘ye haath mujhe de de thakur ‘ or ‘mausiji ….’. i remembered even the not so famous ones also. if there are any in this category for this film.
nish was so surprised at my filmipanna ; as he called it . ya , i still remembered the complete suurma bhopali’s speech . with all the right pauses n all.
i would remember it , why wudnt i ? i had learned it by heart from a two cassette set that was at my nani’s place. tho the movie had released at the time when i couldn’t speak but its euphoria continued till i did . n my mama maassi et all kinda rataoed me the whole thing during vacations. so vella were they !
n this skill i was asked to display time and again in front of adoring public. which comprised of my other maasis n mamas mostly. n i loved the attention i guess. i continued for quite a while till i outgrew them, maybe.
but i never forgot them, i guess.
why would i forget them now …i didn’t forget the multiplication tables , did i ?

ya there were lots of things tho, which kinda looked weird now. like thakur saab’s get up in the last scene – it was so obvious that his hands were inside the kurta . it was funny.
or that scene whr after the mehbooba mehbooba song jay gets injured , n comes back all crouched up on the horse. in obvious pain , yet .. surprise !!! he starts playing the mouth organ looking at radha, the moment he dismounts . clutching his wound with his other hand. arre somebody bandage the wound first .
there were some more too. but these are tiny points in a film , that is a huge masterpiece. part of every indian’s growing up. All of us have some or the other memory attached to this movie . so much is re-lived every time we watch it .
sholay is still one of my favorite movie of all times.
after all , i don’t remember the dialogues of rest of them .

******************************
made dum biryani the first time on saturday .. n it has been officially appointed the dish for all Saturday lunches to come.

it is not so hard to make. just requires a little patience and advance preparation.
**tip - instead of dough to pack the sides , you can use aluminium foil also . i used both of them :D

  he is lying ..

I was told the other day by someone (he has known me since I was knee high n I am very close to him) that I take people for granted. Everyone.
I was so surprised coz I intentionally avoid doing it. Actually make an extra effort to do that, because I simply hate it when I am taken for granted. But well that effort aint much I guess….
According to him I don’t make an extra effort to explain myself to people… that is if I am rude or inconsiderate to people I just expect them to understand why….i assume ,most of the times, that they know the kind of person I am n the mood swings etc are the part of the fabulous me ..
And since all my friends n relatives have learnt to live and accept me …choosing to ignore the un likable me ….coz they know the real warm loyal me (yeah right !) , over the years…but now I have gone ahead and started to spew out the same treatment to people I have made acquaintance with recently …
oh my god !
oh ya , also I am impulsive and prejudiced …n of course very impolite if I don’t like someone …

he is lying , isn’t he God ? cant understand why but ..he surely is .. he has to.

  what ?? 6 matches ???

whats with this ban bhai .. 6 matches .... too much hai .. n i have a feeling this wl give the selectors the much demanded chance to phase Ganguly out , otherwise how do you sack the most successful captain in the indian cricket history... my hearts goes out to him ... first the form goes , now this ban ..i don’t think he will be welcomed back in the team by the time the ban is lifted... but who knows there might be some good at least for the indian team ..who knows.. my bestest wishes to ganguly . ..i don’t have to tell you sir , ‘when the going gets tough , the tough gets going ‘…n you are the toughest captain we have had…

AND cant say the same for dravid…i love dravid ..i think he is the most trustworthy, honorable guy in the team ..the perfect team player...but i dont trust his captaincy ..he is too levelheaded, moral ..does he have that killing spirit .. that mean streak.. the guts to take off his shirt n show a scrawny body to the whole world , jus to prove a point ..i doubt …

AND ( for this one am goin to be killed, i know) pls can someone check the records of past 20 / 25 matches n look up the ratio of times we have lost , each time tendulkar has made a century to when he hasn’t .. . you will be surprised … another gavaskar in making , is it ?..

i in turn have played with the template design ..tried my best .. now sent my template to
